WELCOME TO LIVING JUDAISM AT UNIVERSITY SYNAGOGUE,

WHERE WE DO JEWISH!

HERE AT LIVING JUDAISM....

We are committed to engaging every learner in his/her/their way by giving them the opportunity to Do Jewish by exploring Jewish rituals, holidays, community and values through hands-on, inclusive, and meaningful experiences.  Our hope is for our learners to see themselves as an integral part of our University Synagogue and worldwide Jewish community for years to come.

EXPERIENCES

Our Living Judaism program takes place at University Synagogue each Sunday morning. Children engage in tefilla, Hebrew, Judaic learning and Havayot (experiences) that include, but not limited to, cooking, music, science, art, drama, Torah Study, technology, dance, debate, book club, Yiddish, as well as Tikkun Olam and values. Our families play a vital role in the lives and education of our students. Parallel programming is provided to our families which includes a parenting book club, a parent education series, a technology and the family series, and a variety of speakers.  Our families are encouraged to join us for monthly Family Services led by Rabbi Rachlis and Cantor Briar.

HEBREW LEARNING

Our Hebrew program is taught in small, fluid ability-based groups where students learn at their own pace in their individual learning style enabling each student to reach their individual potential. Additionally, Hebrew skills are reinforced and woven into classroom lessons and Jewish experiences across.  This develops a strong familiarity and knowledge of Shabbat Services, builds prayer book literacy, and basic conversational Hebrew skills. Regardless of a child’s previous exposure to Hebrew, we strive to develop their potential.
