Shabbat Services led by Rabbi George Wielechowski and Cantor Braier
Friday, March 7, 2025 • 7 Adar 5785
7:00 PM - 8:30 PMUniversity Synagogue7:00 p.m. Shabbat Services led by Rabbi George Wielechowski and Cantor Braier on the topic, "Finding Joy in Connection: Adar's Everyday Utopia."
As Adar begins, our tradition invites us to "increase in joy" through Purim's beautiful customs: sharing food with friends and those in need, gathering for festive meals, creativity and playful joy, and finding courage in Esther's story. These ancient practices mirror what both "Blue Zone" communities around the world and Kristen Ghodsee's "Everyday Utopia" research reveal – that our deepest joy comes through cultivating meaningful connections and building what Ghodsee calls "a wider constellation of relationships." This Shabbat, we'll explore how these small, intentional acts of connection can transform our daily existence, creating a reliable source of joy in our own lives with effects that extend far beyond ourselves. Join us as we discover how tending to one-on-one relationships becomes both a spiritual practice and a practical pathway toward healing our fractured world.
