SYNAPLEX SHABBAT ALIVE, RABBI RACHLIS’ FINAL SERVICE BEFORE HE BECOMES RABBI EMERITUS, THE DEDICATION OF OUR NEW READING ROOM IN HONOR OF RABBI RACHLIS AND CANTOR BRAIER AND IN MEMORY OF SHIRLEY SEPEL, AS WELL AS THE DEDICATION OF A SEAT IN OUR SANCTUARY IN MEMORY OF KATHERINE MERAGE

6:00 p.m. Shabbat Dinner. Menu: Chicken Kebabs and Salmon Kebabs with tahini sauce and chermoula sauce  on the side, Rice Pilaf, Chopped Israeli Salad, Grilled Veggies. Vegetarian option: Vegetable Kabob. Cost: $25 for adults, $15 for children. Registration for dinner is now closed.

7:00 p.m. “Looking Back, Ahead And Within” will be Rabbi Rachlis’ topic at our Synaplex Shabbat Alive Services, our jazz and pop service with a band, led by Rabbi Rachlis and Cantor Braier. Rabbi Rachlis will share his memories through the years, as well as his hopes for University Synagogue’s future. Very kindly and generously that evening, there will also be the dedication of a new Reading Room right outside the library in honor of Cantor Braier and Rabbi Rachlis and in memory of Shirley Sepel, donated by her husband, David Sepel, father of Heidi Kahn. Also, that evening, University Synagogue will be dedicating a seat in our sanctuary in memory of Katherine Merage, matriarch of the Merage family. Katherine was an incredible philanthropist, always devoted to University Synagogue, Israel, and the Jewish people. The Merage family will be in attendance at services that evening, as well. Our Shabbat Alive musicians are sponsored by Gilbert Gluck and Catherine Bradley.
