Meet Rabbi Micah Becker-Klein

 

We are pleased to welcome you to come meet Rabbi Micah Becker-Klein, a candidate for our Senior Rabbi role.

Rabbi Micah is a creative, engaging Rabbinic leader with 25+ years of experience in synagogue, education, and Jewish communal life. He is committed to fostering welcoming communities that celebrate diversity and interfaith experiences.  With a dual Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University (Comparative Religion) and the Jewish Theological Seminary (Jewish Liturgy), Rabbi Micah also has an MA in Hebrew Letters and was ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2000.  His breadth of experience includes serving as Rabbi in three congregations and a Jewish school, plus serving as Director of Jewish Life and Education at a JCC. 

Micah has been on faculty at the University of Delaware, and Keene State College and the Keene State Holocaust Education Center, and served as Director of Jewish Life and Education at the Springfield Jewish Community Center in Springfield, MA.  He has extensive leadership experience in Interfaith, Community, and Social Justice work, and has served as the President of the Delaware Association of Rabbis and Cantors.  Micah is an original member of Shabbat Unplugged, and has numerous solo recordings. Micah was part of the JRF Passover recording A Night of Questions. Micah acted as assistant editor for the High Holy Day Prayerbook published by the Reconstructionist Press, and served for 12 years on the Board for Camp Havaya (formerly Camp JRF).  Micah is also an expert in the field of kosher food.  He is married to Rachel and is father to Sophie and Reuben.
