From Ruly Tribe to Unruly Mob:

What Happened to the Israelites When Moses Went Up to Mt. Sinai?

Back by popular demand, our Annual Biblical Trial summons you to return as a juror in this year’s compelling case.

When Moses leaves for his 40 days to Mt. Sinai, things quickly fall apart. Impatient and unknowing of Moses’ whereabouts, the people insist Aaron make them a god to worship and he builds the golden calf.

God is mad, but who’s to blame – the People or Aaron?

Watch the drama unfold! Join constitutional scholar and Dean of the UC Berkeley Law School Erwin Chemerinsky and Loyola law professor and former Federal Prosecutor Laurie Levenson for a searching and entertaining discussion of the legal and ethical questions at stake in this great story.  They will present the evidence and argue the case; but in the end, you, the jury, will decide:  Is Aaron guilty of inciting a rebellion?

After submission of the “evidence,” there will be a lively panel discussion on timeless and timely moral, ethical and philosophical themes led by Rabbi Arnold Rachlis and UCI Professors Dr. Julia Lupton and Dr. Jack Miles.
