JURY: We, the Audience

Who needs “Reality TV”?  Not US.  There’s no need when you’ve got the greatest dysfunctional family scripted right in the Torah.  Try keeping up with Isaac’s sons.  Isaac, abused by his half-brother and nearly murdered by his father, then is “snookered” by his wife, Rebecca, and son, Jacob.  This is truly a “Crime of the Centuries.”  After obtaining Esau’s birthright, Jacob will later be known as Israel and an entire people will bear his name.  Are all later generations tainted by Rebecca and Jacob’s actions?  Where is the justice? YOU get to decide.

Witness as the charges are brought against mother and son in an extraordinary afternoon of learning and live courtroom dramatics as we grapple with eternally relevant issues of Jewish ethics and morality.  Enter the “courtroom” and listen as esteemed legal minds Erwin Chemerinsky and Laurie Levenson argue the case in front of the Honorable Justice William Bedsworth.  Then, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, cast your votes.  After submission of the "evidence," there will be a lively discussion on timeless and timely moral, ethical and philosophical themes featuring Rabbi Arnold Rachlis ans Rabbi Emily Feigenson answering your questions.
